PREPARING YOUR LIVE STREAM
Below you can see some classic examples of where live streaming in London is most commonly used.
For further advice please see our FAQ page or contact us.
General1
EVENTS - Live Streaming
How many cameras will I need?: 1 to many.
Min camera requirement: You will need at least one camera to capture where the main action is, i.e a performer, stage or speaker.
Optional cameras: Wide shot of the whole event allowing the online viewer a chance to see everything.
Our advice: Normally on live streamed events we would use a min of three cameras.
What sort of lighting do we need?: If the event is being hosted in large hotel or proffesional venue then normally they would have suffient lighting. We would strongly suggest you mention our need for good lighting to the venue. If the venue cannot provide this or of the event is outside for example then let us know in advance and we can supply lighting.
What do we do about sound?: Most venues will have a Public address system and can supply us with an overall sound feed. Please do mention to the venue that we will need a sound feed from them. If we are supplying a microphone please remember this is just for our sound recording it is not a PA system.
CONFERENCE / TALKS - Live Streaming
How many cameras will I need?: 1 to many. You will need a camera to capture where the main speaker is stood. Read more here.(https://www.stream-works.co.uk/post/live-streaming-how-many-cameras)
Additional cameras: A wide shot of a panel and stage area, or a wide shot of the audience. If your event has a panel and a presenter the stream will benefit from a min of two cameras which we would vision mix to cover the person who is speaking at that specific time.
Our advice: Normally with talks or conferences we would use a min of three cameras.
What lighting will you need?: If your conference is in a large venue it will normally have stage lighting supplied. We would advise mentioning to the venue that we will also be filming. If your conference is in your own office we can discuss this with you.
What about sound?: Most venues will be able to supply us with a sound feed from their sound desk. Please do mention this to the venue organiser when booking. If we are supplying a microphone please remember this is just for our sound recording it is not a PA system. Let's talk sound.(https://www.stream-works.co.uk/post/lets-talk-sound)..
We also host virtual events.(https://www.stream-works.co.uk/virtual-events)
Need an interview streamed live? Our team can be there with portable equipment quickly.
Suggested cameras: 1 or 2 Cameras
Main shot: A close shot of the presenter.
Addtional shots: Background shot or a two shot.
What lighting will we need?: We can supply both camera top lights and 3 point LED panel lights which are all battery or mains powered.
Best sound?: Lapel or gun microphone.
A well positioned microphone is important. We will supply this kit as standard.
FESTIVALS & MUSIC EVENTS - Live Streaming
Cameras needed: 1 to many.
Crucial shot: A front on view of the stage.
Other shots: A wide shot of the crowd or main venue. On stage cameras also help capture the action well.
Lighting needed: If you're in a dark venue you will need much more lighting than normal for filming. Speak to the Lighting Designer and suggest they speak to us to advise on lighting for the stream as well as the physical audience.
Sound: Mixing Desk or on board mic.
We can either take a feed from the mixing desk or worse case we can record the sound on an external microphone.
For live streaming a house of worship service, you typically need 1 or 2 cameras. A minimum setup includes a camera to film the pulpit or main speaker. Optional cameras can provide a wide shot of the church interior, which is useful during quieter moments or hymns. We recommend lighting the main speaker's area, and we can supply these lights if needed. Most places of worship can provide a sound feed from their sound desk. Remember, your video will be available for viewing at any time that suits your audience!
